National Catholic Schools Week will be observed from January 30 to February. 5. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Ms. Gina Milite’s second-grade class at Resurrection School did an exemplary job getting in character and portraying admirable individuals who made an enduring difference at a Virtual Wax Museum June 4. Each of the 14 “historians” arrived in costume carrying “a paper person” of their character, which opened to reveal facts they’d uncovered about him or her, as well as quotes, photos, and letters.
Since our return to school in September 2020, Resurrection School has been focused on maintaining full time in-school education for our students. As part of this ongoing effort, Resurrection School initiated optional on-site COVID testing. This testing is open to all students, staff, and families through an automated sign-up process. We have held 6 “Testing Tents” to date and have had an excellent turn out.
Catholic Schools Week in the United States begins on January 31st. At Resurrection School, we have a very proud tradition since 1925. Last year, we experienced a 20% increase in enrollment. During Catholic Schools Week, we pray for our students, school families, principals, teachers, alumni and our benefactors. The future at Resurrection School is bright. Enrollment is robust for September.
Resurrection School is investing in technology for education. Improving the technology at Resurrection School gives our teachers the ability to engage today's technologically-savvy students while raising the rigor in the classroom. Another reason why the Resurrection School is "the talk of the town."
The moment schools were required to close in March, and the reopening future was unclear, Resurrection Principal GinaMarie Fonte never lost sight of the fact that, “Kids need structure and real instruction, not helicopter help. They need interaction with teachers who need to teach. We redoubled our efforts to educate our children — who are our future — in every way.”
The teachers at Resurrection Catholic Grammar School in Rye, New York have quickly adapted to a new style of teaching to accommodate the new platform of “distance learning,” brought on by the current COVID-19 pandemic.m for more information.
Resurrection School is proud to recognize Laura Biktjorn as an outstanding teacher who lives true to her faith and her role as a Catholic School teacher by inspiring young minds and hearts every day. Mrs. Biktjorn teaches 8th Grade English Language Arts, as well as the 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Religion. While she is certainly known for holding her students to a high academic standard, her impact on her students and community is not just limited to within the classroom.

Congratulations to Resurrection's 6th and 7th grade classes! These amazing Resurrection students spent weeks pooling their own money to fund a huge donation of food for the 2019 POTS Thanksgiving Meal that the Resurrection Parish hosts annually in the Bronx.

Resurrection School is offering a new course designed for students who excel in math and are eager to be challenged. Due to a high level of interest, 3 separate sessions are being held for students from Grades 4 through 8. The sessions are designed to enhance the student’s math acumen and critical thinking skills.
