The Montessori Program at Resurrection School is an integrated thematic approach that ties separate disciplines of the curriculum together into the studies of the physical universe, the world of nature, and the human experience. The children, ages 3-6, develop a meaningful degree of independence, self-discipline and spirituality. The Montessori program nurtures the “whole child” and aims to provide a base for the rest of the child’s educational process. The classrooms are child-centered prepared environments, arranged according to subject areas that provide the children with the opportunity to learn basic skills and become culturally literate. As the children learn to trust their own ability to think and solve problems independently, they set up a pattern for a lifetime of good work habits. Classic Montessori learning materials are further enhanced at Resurrection with the inclusion of technology (SmartBoards, computer lab, iPads), and the program blends seamlessly with Common Core because the children learn by working hands-on with concrete materials before proceeding to the abstract. Montessori PreK-4 students also have special subject classes, including Art, Music, Computer, Library, Physical Education and Spanish.
